Assessment & Treatment
A consultation prior to the assessment is offered free of charge. This allows us to identify your specific needs in order to tailor the assessment to you. A questionnaire or self-rating form is often completed prior to the assessment.
The assessment consists of an interview with the client and/or family, standardized measures and informal analysis. Most assessments take between 1 and 1.5 hours and results will be reviewed with you in detail.
Treatment goals are set in collaboration with the client and/or family and their personal goals. The number of sessions required are highly individualized and vary depending on a number of factors. Treatment often involves education, strategy instruction, exercises and practice with regular and ongoing feedback in order to reach your communication, cognitive and swallowing goals.
